Danielle

Danielle was a stay-at-home mom living in Calgary. Her husband worked two jobs to try and keep the family afloat. Danielle was eager to contribute to the family income, but without a high school education she could only find minimum wage jobs that barely covered the cost of child care.

Then she signed up for Women’s Venture Program, a self-employment program for women offered by Momentum, a nonprofit organization based in Calgary.

There she received intensive business training and one-on-one support to help her develop and grow a small business. Through this program, Danielle opened a tattoo business, which has now been in operation for two years.

The experience at Momentum taught Danielle she could do whatever she set her mind to.

She has since finished her high school diploma and is now attending university. She plans a career in health care and medical technologies
