2012 Toronto Breakfast - Geena Davis
Six years ago, actor Geena Davis was watching television with her two-year-old daughter and was shocked at the lack of female characters in children’s programs. She was galvanized into action.
Today, the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media is the only research-based organization working within the media and entertainment industry regarding the portrayal of women and girls in children’s entertainment.
The 2012 Toronto Annual Breakfast featured Geena Davis, Academy Award® winner and advocate for women and girls.
Funds raised will help women in Canada to move out of poverty by funding life-changing programs designed especially for them. Through these unique programs, they can learn a skilled trade, start a small business, or get work experience.
